Memorial services for Edward Samek Jr. were Tuesday, April 15 at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Edwardsville Cemetery.  Visitation took place Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Samek, 50, died Friday, April 11 at Providence Medical Center.

Mr. Samek was born Sept. 10, 1952, in Kansas City, Kan.  He was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School.  Mr. Samek married his wife, Pamela, April 26, 1986, in Kansas City, Kan.  Together they lived in Kansas City, Kan. until moving to Edwardsville in 1992.  Mr. Samek worked at the Ussery Body Shop for more than 20 years.  He was a past president of the Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Board and was a soccer coach for the Edwardsville Soccer League.

Mr. Samek was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Samek, and by his stepfather, Sorrels Ellis.

Mr. Samek is survived by his wife, Pamela, and two sons, Edward Frank Samek, III and Vernon Ellis Samek all of the home; one sister, Roxanna Knipp and husband, Robert, St. Clair, Mo.; his mother, Juanita Ellis, Kansas City, Kan., as well as a host of family and friends.

The family suggests memorials to the City of Edwardsville/Park Fund in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
