| I was a Marine member of
the Fourth Marine Division, 24th Regiment, 2nd Battalion, "E" Company.
In late January or early February 1944, I embarked on the troop ship USS
Elmore and was transported directly to battle at Roi-Namur in Kwajalein
Atoll. I survived that one uninjured but was not so lucky on
