In Memory of Francis D. Tyler
The following comments were left by friends and family members
of Francis “Opa” Tyler on a memorial Web site. They were sent in by
Martha Tyler with the permission of the writers.
Opa and Tante - May you both find in your new
life the happiness and love that you shared with us while on earth!
We love you!
Joan, Paula & Martha
Francis was a special person to me, not only a
good neighbor during my residency in MA, but a good friend and
someone I considered a role model. I spent many hours of enjoyment
and friendship with Francis. He certainly had some remarkable
stories about his days as a Navy Pilot during WWII. My heart and
sorrow goes out to his family for the loss, we'll all miss him. He
will always be in my memories as one of the finest men I have ever
met.

I still have the book “Grimm's Fairy Tales”
that Opa and Tante gave to me December 25, 1984. I grew up looking
at the pictures in that book and reading those famous stories. It
sits on my shelf in my office. May your kind and loving words to me
at the front of the book now come back to you. All my love and
affection and hopes that you continue to travel still in your own
way now.

One of my fondest memories of Opa and Tante
was the Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade. We all know how much Opa
enjoyed that holiday and it was a treat to celebrate it with him.
Opa did it up right in every shade of green imaginable, all at once!
Love and miss him.
Love, Rachael
Any thanksgiving that we would spend at your
house, you would always leave the cowboy game on and sit me in a
prime viewing location. The warmth and love you always showed my
family and me will be forever missed. We miss you Opa. ....
Love Mattingly, Lori, Josh. ...
I'm going to miss the energy, enthusiasm and
joy Francis always brought with him. He was such a pleasure to be
with and talk with. Memories of my time with him will always make me
smile, and I will always treasure having been his favorite
son-in-law! Francis, may you be together again with your beloved
Johanna and May your souls reside in joy.
Love, Jim
I am lucky to have had Opa as my grandfather.
The memories I will always have are breakfast with Opa and Tante,
dancing with him at my wedding, and him holding his two
great-grandsons I am only sorry that they did not have more time
with him. We miss and love you Opa.
Love Sarah, Rob, Curtis, & Derek
I'll always remember running with Opa along
the Jersey Shore, looking for colored glass from the Sea and sharing
a 7am Rolling Rock at the ripe age of 12. I hope I'm lucky enough to
see and do all that he saw and did. Love and miss him
Love Mark
To the Tyler Family, Please accept my sincere
condolences at the passing of your father. I have many fond memories
of a fine and generous man. I can't help to think of his joy now
that he has joined his beloved Johanna. She has waited patiently for
this reunion and we should all share in their happiness. His
generous legacy to you should be thought of as his gift for all to
share and reflect upon. Again my sympathies to you, your father was
a true gentle soul.
Sincerely, John Dwyer
I met your dear Dad about 45 years ago on
Ralsey Road. My family is so lucky to have many of the fantastic
photos he took of us while living in Shippan. My memories of Frank
are really happy ones. He was never without a smile and a camera. He
was an amazing man and I share in your loss.
God Bless. Love, Lynn AKA Lynder |
