I worked for Jim Sumter with the Optics gang, was site chief of Legan, played soccer and volleyball, part time bartender at Yuk. Those were the best years of my life, great friends and life long experience. Got married in 1979 took wife back to Kwaj in 80s for my second tour; our first son, Kyle Martin Rodriguez (KMR) was born in 1983. ‘Thank you Dr. Linborg’. (Kyle was named after Lauren Buck’s brother Kyle who I met my first tour). Worked at Data Center as Optics controller. When we left, I worked on the West Coast shuttle, had another son, Ryan, after the shuttle disaster in 86, I found a great job with the DOD. I now have 25 years working for the Marine Corps here at Camp Pendleton. Sue just recently completed her Law Degree. Our youngest son Ryan is a tornado, but Kyle has retained the island style of living, he is mellow and still has a lot of Kwaj is in him. He remains our window to those island days. Miss my friends, hope to talk to them before I get too much older. |
