Kwajalein
residents were busy celebrating Thanksgiving here, but
what went on at Roi-Namur, our neighboring island with
approximately 250 bachelors living there? Well, the
Roi Rats had an opportunity to enjoy themselves to too.
They were both surprised and delighted when Shermie and
His Friends gave up their Thanksgiving Holiday to play
their great music free of charge for the Roi Rats who
celebrated their holiday on their island retreat of
Roi-Namur. Shermie and Friends were given a tour of
Roi-Namur. KVZZI-FM sponsored Shermie's visit to Roi.
The band was presented with a beautifully decorated cake
from all disc jockeys. the cake was donated to KVZI-FM
by the expert baker, Sol Taylor.
During Shermie's visit to KVZI, Shermie and all the his
friends made a live broadcast talk show for the Roi Rats
and neighboring islands. The broadcast was both in
English and Marshallese.
And talk about a show! No words can describe the
response from the Roi Rats to the professional talent of
Shermie and Mary Couture and all the rest wit their backup
music.
It was through the sincere efforts of Mr. Frank Serafini,
Roi-Namur resident manager, and Mr. John Huntington, KREMS
assistant manager, tat thi show was made available to Roi
bachelors. It is through men such as these that the
moral of Roi Rats always remains very high. All give
their sincere thanks to Frank and John for making
Thanksgiving Day 1975 a day to remember.
Roi Rats wish to thank Shermie and His Friends for their
wonderful show, and hope you visit Roi-Namur again in the
near future. |
